Contribution to The Transport Finance Law Review 2019

Fenech Farrugia Fiott Legal, ARQ’s partner legal firm, are again proud contributors to the Malta chapter in the prestigious publication – The Transport Finance Law Review. The publication is international in scope and is designed to provide industry insights to transport finance in key jurisdictions in which ships, rolling stock and aircraft are financed.

Historically, asset finance has always been sought through bank loans but this is no longer sustainable or sufficient to meet the ever-increasing demands of the rail, maritime and aviation sectors. These have developed to become trillion-dollar industries and legal practitioners have had to adapt and respond by offering clients a wider and more flexible set of solutions than before. This has led to wider skill sets being developed, where a multi-disciplinary approach is seen as advantageous.

The Malta Chapter was compiled by Partners Tonio Fenech and Christian Farrugia, with the assistance of the law firm Associates. They provide an in-depth analysis of the changes in the local landscape over the recent years and how this has affected transport asset finance. Particular attention was given to developments in the legislative framework, financial regulation affecting financiers and any notable recent  cases in the Maltese courts.

The legal team at Fenech Farrugia works together with and forms part of the various units at ARQ to make up a multi-disciplinary professional team who are in a position to assist, advise and design solutions for operators in the maritime, aviation and the general transport industry sector.
