Updates to the Malta Gaming Authority’s (MGA) Financial Reporting Requirements Effective from 2025

Annual Financial Reports (AFR)

Starting in 2025, the MGA requires licensees to submit Annual Financial Reports (AFR) covering the entire twelve-month financial year. These reports must include key financial figures extracted from the statement of comprehensive income and the statement of financial position, such as revenue, assets, equity, and liabilities. This requirement does not replace the obligation to submit audited financial statements, which remain due to be submitted no later than 6 months from the end of the financial year.

Licensees must submit their AFR no later than two months after the end of their financial year. For example, licensees with a financial year ending in December must submit their first AFR for 2024 by February 28, 2025.

Interim Financial Reports (IFR)

The new Interim Financial Reports (IFR) will mirror the AFR but cover the first six months of the financial year. These reports will replace the current Interim Financial Statements.

Similar to the AFR, the IFR must be submitted no later than two months after the end of the reporting period. For instance, a licensee with a financial year ending in December must submit their IFR by August 31.

Submission Process

All financial figures must be submitted through the Licensee Portal. Licensees will find the respective AFR and IFR records in Draft mode in their timeline. Upon selecting the record, they will be guided on the required key financial figures to report.
